Microscope 6 (W & J George Ltd; 1930s)

W & J George Ltd was a manufacturer of laboratory equipment and other scientific instruments that traded at Great Charles Street, Birmingham. The company was founded prior to 1897, when it was taken over by F E Becker & Co (with the company retaining the original name until the 1940s). The company traded as W & J George & Becker Ltd from 1944 to 1954, when it became Griffin & George (when W & J George & Becker Ltd merged with Griffin & Tatlock). The company made high quality microscopes and other scientific equipment from the 1900s to the 1960s.  Microscope 6 is signed with W & J George Ltd and has the serial number 1449, being dated to the 1930s.
